SHIFTING GEARS OUT OF TRANSITION: ALEX YEE VS THE 26.2.

WHEN BEING THE GREATEST ISN’T ENOUGH.

A normal kid from Lewisham to bridging the gap to the Champs-Élysées, Alex Yee became the most decorated triathlete in Olympic history. No honey blacks, but even Clint419 would respect the all black fit with straight gold dangling from his neck, his name ain’t Fred, but its Yee again.. with back 2 back Olympic victory laps in Paris making bro the talk of the town. Imagine being the best of all time but still wanting more, Pat Spencer not the only warrior iced out all golden with a mentality in straight flow state. From triathlon to running, Alex shocked the community when he announced lacing up for London Marathon, New Balance creps on feet but there’s no protection pack when your flying in an elite marathon field. London was to learn the distance but Valencia was the mission and the mission was smoked in 2:06:38 to make Yee the second fastest British marathon runner of all time. This is no forcing BOV trait, but Valencia was just a pitch inspection to see what he was capable of and Alex Yee, is capable of the unthinkable.

HOW YOU BECOME THE GOAT IN TWO DIFFERENT SPORTS.

We haven’t seen a debut performance like this since Wayne Rooney banged a hat trick against Fenerbahçe under the Champions League lights. 14th overall and the 2nd Brit in his first marathon at one of the world’s most competitive courses, and entering GOAT conversations in your debut is a way only legends go about their business. The triathlon consists of a 10k so lining up with the marathon greats to fly through 42k is a completely different ball game. The muscle demands, bone density, the fuelling etc, are all things runners take years to perfect. Half a year since taking gold at the Triathlon World Champs, did he have what it takes? He said he hit a wall at 30k and it was straight grit and determination pulling him to the finish line. This is the XP he needed, you can’t slow down a man on fire aspect when the motivation is unbreakable. If homecoming laid the foundations, let there be carnage at a race far from home - Valencia Marathon.

BRITISH HEADLINES TAKING OVER VALENCIA

My dawg said it was the proudest he’s ever felt in a race so you know every time his step pounded the pavement a wave of emotions fuelled the double Olympic champion to the finish line. Moving like prime David Villa striding through the Spanish streets, ‘El Guaje’ overtaking the elites like he’s on a mission to pick up a Copa Del Rey for Valencia again. A historical race for 65, he crossed the line in the second quickest UK time ever, with only Sir Mo Farah ahead making him the fastest active Brit over a marathon - and he’s not even a runner! So what does this mean for the triathlon? Alex is going back, the return’s gonna hit harder than MJ rocking 45 in Chicago as he sets his sights back on the World Series. But there’s definitely a bug for the marathon and only still in his 20s, just 2 minutes behind the European record, are we going to see a new king of UK running? We’re ready for the reign to start.

NOTHING LEFT UNCLAIMED.
