STEEL WHEELS, RELENTLESS ROADS. MIKE EGAN GO ONE MORE.

INSIDE A WHEELCHAIR MISSION.

A mind stronger than the steel of the wheels, welcome Mike Egan, the epitome of no excuses, resilience and the purest of endurance athletes. Pulled up to BPN and made it his battlefield, sound of the bell his Call of Duty, and leaving as the God of War. The U.S Marine Vet made the trails look like his rookie, showing no mercy to the running track lying beneath him. Competing in BPN’s Go One More Ultra, a last man standing race: a 4.2-mile loop. Every hour. For as long as possible. Until one person remains. Egan lost his legs in an explosion fighting in Afghanistan, but did my man ever give up? Nah, those legs don’t just grow back, this Winter Soldier is forever fighting his own Infinity War, breaking a World Record in the training process, Egan made it the End Game, 27 hours deep into the race, 110 miles, top 28 and going further than 117 other competitors. The real Iron Mike, kid dynamite in his arms pushing the wheels past 100 miles within the first 24 hours and keeping up with some of the biggest names in the ultrarunning game. Streets would say this is AI, but there’s nothing fake about the truest tale of adversity, as he says, “forward always”, the running game might never see a figure this inspirational again - Mike Egan, forever in the Hall of Fame.

EGAN’S DEFINING MOMENT.

The scary part of this story is the unknown. Much like the race itself, nobody knows who will be the last standing and nobody knows when the race will end. Nobody knows how far Egan could’ve gone. Mike Egan or Tommy Egan, man was holding too much power the heaven gates had to open and let the rain fall. 27 hours deep into the race, Santan called it a raindance, but this was more like Verdansk, the way the runners had to switch gears and go into survival mode. The rain fell hard and the tracks got too muddy for the wheels to move and Mike Egan was officially stuck in the mud. Most would call this NOTHING LEFT UNCLAIMED, but the Egan mindset found an extra bit of land to claim back. Nick Bare pioneered the event but Egan got off his chair and used his bare hands to drag himself across the ground while pulling the wheelchair behind him. Giggs would phrase it Look What the Cat Dragged In, but as the Whippin Excursion came to an end, Mike was left Talking the Hardest. Not giving up when the wheelchair became fully stuck, he left it there and dragged his body along the dirt to reach the end of the lap. The event organisers deemed it too much and had to take him off the route and DQ him for the race but this was a 4Q to be proud of. The most inspiring story of the running scene and who knows how far he would’ve gone if the rain never fell. The sky went dull but Mike Egan carried on shining, you are an inspiration to us all…

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

What comes next for the man who conquered Go One More and holds the World Record for the furthest in a wheelchair in 24 hours? The story of adversity will inspire the masses to unlock the NOTHING LEFT UNCLAIMED mindset and leave everyone in awe at how incredible this man is. He surely has to be signed by BPN in the future and I’m so excited to see what’s in store for Mike Egan. He promotes his story regularly and pushes the ‘Forward Always’ mantra to his followers. The mentality this man has is so incredible and if everyone took a pinch of discipline from him, the world would be in a great place. Mike Egan. you are the coldest.

NOTHING LEFT UNCLAIMED.
