What make this race so memorable and inspirational is Josh Kerr’s unyielding confidence, belief and trust in himself to achieve something that for others feels so far out of reach. The craziest thing is that he called it. Back in March he launched “Project 222” to resemble the 222 seconds (3:42) and the amount of time it would take to break the World Record, whilst declaring that it was going to happen on this specific day at this specific time at Diamond League London. We might have to start a rumour that Tony Stark works at Brooks because the bespoke spikes and aerodynamically tested speed suit made Kerr into an Ironman that is simply untouchable and Edna hiding in the Oakley’s are the reason he never races without the shades on. Streets are calling him Kold Kerr the way he embraces expectation as he said, “when the pressure’s on, I show up” and he definitely showed up.

LIFE AS A WORLD RECORD HOLDER. JOBS NOT FINISHED.
“Kerr Kourage” or “Mamba Mentality” the way this guy set his sights on another World Record less than 12 hours after he broke the first one. Job finished? No, I don’t think so. The Olympics and World Championships use metric measurements and so there is no “1 Mile” event and instead the notorious 1500m. With the Commonwealth Games coming up on home soil in Glasgow we’ll see a run out from Kerr that decides whether the 1500m World Record is possible. He’s already said, “it’s on” and with the history books on his side, I think the current 1500m World Champion has all the ink to rewrite the novel. It’s not a matter of IF but a matter of WHEN…
