HUMAN VS NATURE. JONNY DAVIES RACES THE SUN ACROSS THE WIDTH OF THE UK.

(red bull, 2026)

THE FIRST PERSON EVER TO RUN THE UK COAST TO COAST IN ONLY DAYLIGHT.

There’s not many races or competitions that land on the Summer Solstice. Longest day of the year. Highest temperatures the UK has hit. Most will postpone their long run, Jonny Davies did the opposite and chose to run as far as possible. From Tynemouth Lighthouse to Bowness-on-Solway the adventure was to run coast to coast, the width of the UK and 140km. The mission wasn’t about the distance but the competition. Start line when the sun rises and the finish line when the sun sets, a competition against mother nature, who’s faster Jonny Davies VS The Sun. Finishing with 30 seconds till sunset, the modern-day Icarus flew so close to the sun but this time came out with the win. 16 hours 9 mins of serious mileage, this is the definition of a pioneer, breaking records, writing the script to his own destiny and showing the world what the human body is capable of. Had to run against the sun because the rain couldn’t wash off his shine, we haven’t seen a British flag waving with this much character since the blonde buzz ‘Gazza’ in ‘96. 30 years on and the drip is still unmatched, calling out ‘Hey Jude’ arms wide at the finish line like he’s waving a toast to the Brits, popping a champers in hand at the west coast because this fizz is the real champagne supernova. The streets are calling him the Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest written story ever recorded where the protagonist races the sun to reach the horizon. A 4000 year old tale deemed ancient mythology because of how insane the mission seemed, Jonny Davies has quite literally rewritten history and completed a run that has been dreamed about for thousands of years. The world’s been calling out for a trailblazer and Jonny went full Tom Cruise on a mission impossible to show how dreams can come true. Cheers to that!

JONNY DAVIES AGAINST THE WORLD.

Making every second count on the longest day of the year earns the official Jonny (1) - sun (0) scoreboard. Over three marathons back to back and a ticking time deadline waiting for you, the pressure on this kind of run is absolutely immense. The Rolex got traded for an antique timepiece when bro got to 70km and thought he wouldn’t finish let along get there in the time. That’s when these guys unleash a different kind of dawg in them. Feeling like you can’t go any further and knowing you are only halfway is as daunting as it gets but the mindset to never give up and chase a goal you now don’t see happening is nothing short of inspirational. He said he nearly pulled the plug a few times in the race but word to Rich the Kid because this man straight plug walked to the finish line. Jonny Davies is not shy to an impossible challenge but this one might top the lot. Back in 2023 he ran the entire London Underground taking 11 days to cover 570km, the next year took on every Capital City in the UK and Ireland to reach 960km in less than 12 days and earlier this year competed in the BPN Go One More Ultra to cover a continuous 192km. It’s clear this guy is a different beast and the next goal has already been discussed, MOAB 240 and we’ll be watching. The BPNsupps sponsored athlete will likely have the incredibly crowned King of Moab Max Jolliffe in his corner to fight the desert trenches and ridiculous ultrarunning competitions. But you know what that’s a story for another day…

The man is a pioneer, and has countlessly shown that the impossible is possible, in reply to the announcement of his next goal, preach to Anthony Edwards because I have two words for you: ‘BELEIVE THAT’.

NOTHING LEFT UNCLAIMED.
